Our standard dry-type transformers in VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) or cast resin technology are built for efficiency, safety, and long-term performance, making them the ideal choice for modern power distribution networks: from 50kVA to 25MVA, with voltage classes up to 52kV.
A) CORE: magnetic steel laminations, cut at 45° and assembled using the Step Lap technique to reduce losses and noise.
B) LV WINDINGS: vacuum impregnated coils for enhanced insulation and thermal resistance.
C) MV WINDINGS: mold-cast in autoclave using epoxy resin (class F) to ensure mechanical strength, insulation integrity, and resistance to environmental stress.
D) METAL FRAMEWORK: in-house manufactured and hot-dip galvanized, allowing installation even in aggressive or corrosive environments.

Technical FAQ – Dry-Type Distribution Transformers
Absolutely. Thanks to their self-extinguishing insulation and no oil content, dry-type transformers are safe for installation in hospitals, data centers, commercial buildings, and other sensitive areas.
By default, TMC dry-type transformers are cooled using natural air (AN) or forced air (AF) with the aid of ventilation systems. TMC has engineered and developed multiple advanced cooling technologies to meet specific application needs. For more details, please visit our technology section.
Yes. Standard TMC dry-type transformers comply with the C2E2F1 environmental classification. However, TMC can also provide solutions in higher categories thanks to the E4C3F1 certification, ensuring superior resistance to humidity, pollution, and mechanical stress.
In addition, standard protection enclosures include IP21 and IP23, but for special environments or installation constraints, custom enclosures are available upon request. Discover more on our dedicated page.
- Cast Resin Transformers: windings are encapsulated in epoxy resin under vacuum, offering excellent protection against moisture, dust, and corrosive atmospheres. Ideal for harsh environments.
- VPI Transformers: windings are impregnated under vacuum and pressure, then oven-cured. They are more flexible in design and cost-effective for standard industrial applications.
