High performance in extreme climatic and environmental conditions

The Resin-encapsulated dry-type transformers are designed to ensure high levels of safety, reliability and continuity of service even under the most severe operating conditions. Their performance is classified in accordance with the international standard IEC/EN 60076-11, which defines the transformer’s behaviour in relation to environmental, climatic and fire conditions.

These three aspects are identified by the codes E (Environmental), C (Climatic) and F (Fire Behaviour), which indicate the transformer’s ability to operate in the presence of humidity, low temperatures and fire conditions.

Standard distribution transformers are normally supplied with E2/C2/F1 certification, the benchmark quality standard for industrial and infrastructure applications, which ensures correct operation even in the presence of high humidity, condensation and contaminated environments, down to -25 °C, as well as a high level of safety in the event of a fire thanks to reduced flammability and limited flame spread.

For special applications and particularly harsh environments, TMC is also able to supply transformers certified up to class E4/C5/F1, guaranteeing superior performance and maximum operational reliability.

TMC transformers certified by CESI in Milan

TMC has obtained certification number C1008122TC for the E4/C5/F1 classification from the independent CESI laboratory in Milan, confirming the high performance of its dry-type transformers.

The E4 classification certifies their suitability for operation in environments with high humidity and highly aggressive conditions, including offshore applications, whilst the C5 class guarantees resistance to particularly severe thermal shocks and reliable operation even in extreme climatic conditions, at temperatures ranging from -50 °C to -60 °C.
