Oil&gas offshore dry-type transformers engineered for harsh marine environments
For the PETRONAS Sepat Wellhead Platforms project in Malaysia, TMC designed and manufactured six dry-type transformers for reliable electrical power distribution in a demanding offshore Oil & Gas environment.
Installed within IP55 outdoor enclosures manufactured in-house by TMC, the transformers are protected against the environmental conditions typically found on offshore platforms, including high humidity, salt-laden air, dust and water ingress.
The challenge: reliable power distribution on offshore wellhead platforms
Electrical equipment installed on offshore platforms must operate reliably despite constant exposure to severe marine conditions: humidity, salt and water can affect the performance and service life of the electrical equipment. In addition, these types of environments require solutions designed to minimise maintenance requirements and reduce the risk of unexpected interruptions.

TMC solution
The TMC dry-type transformer technology eliminates the need for insulating liquid, providing reliable insulation performance and reduced maintenance requirements for demanding offshore applications.
