Electrical Designer Intern
TMC Transformers S.p.A., a global leader in the design and manufacture of medium- and low-voltage transformers, is seeking an intern for the role of electrical designer.
The intern will assist with the electrical design of power and/or distribution transformers, in accordance with customer technical specifications and applicable international standards (IEC, IEEE, CEI, etc.). They will collaborate with the Mechanical, Production, and Quality Departments to ensure efficient, reliable, and safe technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical design of MV/LV or MV/MV transformers (single-phase/three-phase, VPI or resin-cast).
- Definition of electrical specifications: power, voltages, connection diagrams, regulation, losses, impedance, insulation, etc.
- Calculation of electrical parameters (e.g., windings, losses, short-circuit currents, heating).
- Analysis and interpretation of customer specifications and relevant technical standards.
- Collaboration with the mechanical department to integrate electrical components into the overall design.
- Support to production during the assembly and testing phases.
- Technical liaison with customers and suppliers.
- Management of the electrical bill of materials and updating of specifications in the management system.
Requirements:
Education:
- Graduates or current students in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Electronics, or Physics
Technical skills:
- Basic knowledge of technical standards (IEC 60076, CEI, IEEE).
- Familiarity in electrical calculations (losses, impedances, conductor cross-sections, etc.).
- Nice-to-Have experience with electrical CAD software (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical)
- Knowledge of electrical simulation software (e.g., ANSYS Maxwell, FEMM) is a desirable skill..
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is considered a plus.
