Mechanical Designer Intern
TMC TRANSFORMERS S.p.A., a global leader in the design and manufacture of medium- and low-voltage transformers, is seeking a mechanical design intern for its office in Busto Arsizio (VA).
The candidate will assist with the mechanical design of power and/or distribution transformers, in accordance with customer technical specifications and applicable international standards (IEC, IEEE, CEI, etc.). They will collaborate with the Electrical, Production, and Quality Departments to ensure efficient, reliable, and safe technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of design feasibility studies for new products in accordance with defined performance, quality, and cost objectives, as well as timelines;
- Handle the 3D mechanical design of components, assemblies, and finished products, and create technical drawings;
- Conduct functional testing through the creation of functional prototypes;
- Collaborate, during the Product Development phase, with the various departments involved in the entire process.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of mechanical design for metal fabrications and thin sheet metal;
- Basic knowledge of the main production processes (laser cutting, metal bending);
- Knowledge of the principles of electrical engineering;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with 3D CAD systems (preferably SolidWorks) and PDM systems is a plus;
Soft skills:
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to detail, independence, and a sense of responsibility.
- Good knowledge of technical English.
