Dry-Type transformers for extreme mining conditions

Transformers for mining are built to resist highly polluted environments and installation. This means they are largely enclosed, dry-type transformers, where pollution cannot reach active parts due to hermetically sealed protection.

TMC solution
The special compact design is thought to fit the constraints on site space. Mining industry transformers have a highly protected and cooled setup, with special cooling systems of AFAF heat exchangers in a sealed enclosure. The complex design of mining transformers ensures proper performance and prevents overheating. The capability to own and produce these kinds of technological transformers resulted in the supply of TMC dry-type transformers for the Chuquicamata project, the world's largest outdoor copper mine located in Chile, producing more than 600.000 metric tons of copper each year.
